Changes are coming to Chicago Bears scouting department
Chicago Bears general manager Ryan Poles is expected to make changes to his scouting department following the 2022 NFL Draft.
The 2022 NFL Draft is barely in the rear-view mirror, and by all indications, the Chicago Bears had a successful three days of team building. But that doesn’t mean all of the scouts who contributed to the process will remain with the Bears under General Manager Ryan Poles.
According to the Chicago Tribune’s Brad Biggs, Poles will make changes in his scouting department in the coming days and weeks.
Turnover in the scouting world generally happens after the draft. Word is #Bears GM Ryan Poles is making some changes at Halas Hall.

It isn’t uncommon for a new general manager to retain the previous regime’s scouts for the first NFL draft after getting the job. Poles was hired in January, only three months before the 2022 NFL draft kicked off. It would be bad business to terminate a team of scouts who’ve been on the road all season gathering intel and formulating scouting reports.
Poles is evaluating every aspect of the Bears’ staff left behind by Ryan Pace. It’s possible several scouts impressed him over the last few weeks of meetings at Halas Hall and will remain a big part of his plan. It’s also possible that Poles has “his guys” locked and loaded for the 2023 draft cycle. We’ll soon find out which scouts stay and which ones are relieved as the dust settles on the 2022 draft.
