Chicago Bears sign veteran WR Tajae Sharpe (Free Agency)

The Chicago Bears signed veteran wide receiver Tajae Sharpe to a one-year deal Wednesday. The move adds much-needed experience to the team’s wide receiver room.

Sharpe has 36 starts over his five-year career after entering the league in 2016 as a fifth-round pick of the Tennesee Titans.

Tajae Sharpe spent the 2021 season with the Atlanta Falcons, where he started seven games and finished the year with 25 catches for 230 yards. His best season came during his rookie year when he totaled 41 catches for 522 yards and two touchdowns.

Sharpe (6-foot-2, 194 pounds) will compete for reps in the Bears’ passing game with Byron Pringle and Equanimeous St. Brown. He’s a quality signing at this point in free agency who should have little trouble making Chicago’s final roster.

As it currently stands, the most likely Bears’ wide receiver pecking order is (1) Darnell Mooney, (2) Byron Pringle, (3) Velus Jones, (4) Equanimeous St. Brown, (5) David Moore, and (6) Dazz Newsome.

Sharpe should push one of those six players onto the roster bubble. The training camp competition at wide receiver will be fierce, and with increased competition usually comes better results.
