The Chicago Bears traded for former first-round pick N’Keal Harry on Tuesday in a deal that should add more competition for meaningful reps at wide receiver during training camp.
Harry was selected by the New England Patriots with the 32nd pick of the 2019 NFL Draft but failed to make an impact during his first three seasons in the league. He’s totaled just 57 catches for 598 yards and four touchdowns in his career. With a fresh start in Chicago, N’Keal Harry may finally realize the potential that made him a highly regarded prospect out of Arizona State.
Harry’s pre-draft profile was impressive. He measured 6-2 and 228 pounds at the 2019 NFL Combine and ran a solid 4.53 40-yard dash. His 38.5-inch vertical jump confirmed his contested catch skill set and his 27 reps of 225 pounds proved he has the strength to bully NFL defensive backs. He just hasn’t put it all together yet.
NFL.com draft analyst Lance Zierlein compared N’Keal Harry to former Chicago Bears wide receiver Allen Robinson, which seemed fair during his draft year.
For whatever reason, N’Keal Harry’s time in New England didn’t work out, but it’s worth looking back at his film from Arizona State to see the kind of player the Chicago Bears are getting. He’s only 24 years old, upside remains.
