Bears sign veteran OL Riley Reiff (2022 Season)

The Chicago Bears signed veteran offensive lineman Riley Reiff on the eve of training camp, the team announced Tuesday.

Reiff’s contract will pay him up to $12.5 million with $10 million in likely to be earned bonuses, which count against the team’s salary cap in 2022. In other words, they’re paying him to be a starter.

Riley Reiff joins veteran offensive lineman Michael Schofield as significant upgrades over the last 24 hours. Both players immediately level up the experience and quality of the Chicago Bears offensive line and should open the season as starters.

Reiff, 33, was selected by the Detroit Lions in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft. He’s started 139 games over his 10-year career, which includes stops with the Minnesota Vikings and Cincinnati Bengals in addition to the Lions.

Riley Reiff has experience starting at both left and right tackle. He started 12 games at right tackle for the Bengals in 2021. Reiff will unseat either Larry Borom, Braxton Jones, or Teven Jenkins in the Chicago Bears’ starting lineup.
