Bears Training Camp: Robert Quinn arrives at Halas Hall (2022 Season)

Chicago Bears defensive end Robert Quinn won’t join linebacker Roquan Smith as a holdout during training camp. Quinn, who set the Bears’ single-season sack record in 2021, reported on time with veterans on Tuesday.

It’s worth noting that reporting to training camp on time doesn’t mean a veteran intends on practicing, however. It’s possible Quinn is at Halas Hall to avoid mandatory fines. We’ll soon find out.

Robert Quinn was the subject of trade speculation throughout the offseason because of his failure to attend voluntary and mandatory minicamps. Coach Matt Eberflus appeared frustrated with Quinn’s lack of participation, but that’s all water under the bridge now.

Quinn will be counted on as the Chicago Bears’ primary pass-rusher in 2022. The trade of Khalil Mack to the Los Angeles Chargers opens the door for Trevis Gipson and Al-Quadin Muhammad to get reps opposite Quinn.

Robert Quinn’s 18.5 sacks in 2021 was the second-highest single-season total of his career. He’s proven to be a double-digit sack-guy when healthy, and at age 32 years old, he likely has another season or two of quality production left in the tank. A regression is expected, but double-digit sacks is within his range of possible outcomes once again.
