So much for those Teven Jenkins trade rumors. The Chicago Bears waived veteran guard Michael Schofield Tuesday, opening the door for Jenkins to begin the season as the Bears’ starting right guard.
Schofield was viewed as the primary competition standing in the way of Jenkins securing a starting gig. Now, with Schofield out of town, it appears right guard duties belong to Jenkins.

Schofield, 31, started 81 games in the NFL before joining the Bears this summer. He was viewed as a quality veteran addition for a team with an offensive line in flux. But once Jenkins was moved from tackle to guard, a battle for the starting job ensued. Jenkins won.
In addition to Michael Schofield, the Chicago Bears released DL Sam Kamara and waived offensive lineman Lachavious Simmons. You can track all of the Bears’ roster moves here.
