WATCH: Highlights of new Bears OL Alex Leatherwood
Video highlights of new Chicago Bears offensive lineman Alex Leatherwood, who GM Ryan Poles signed off waivers on Wednesday and will ….
The Chicago Bears claimed former 2021 first-round pick (No. 17 overall) Alex Leatherwood off waivers Wednesday in what was the biggest transaction of the day across the league.
Leatherwood suffered through a dismal rookie season last year, one that began as a right tackle and ended with a kick inside to guard. While there was speculation he could get cut, it seemed unlikely considering his draft pedigree.
The Raiders underwent a regime change this offseason and determined Leatherwood was, in fact, expendable. One team’s trash is another’s treasure, right?
Leatherwood is now one of Chicago’s five best offensive linemen and has a chance to earn a starting job early in the 2022 season.
So, let’s forget about his rookie year, and instead look back at what made him such an appealing NFL draft prospect. Here are some of Alex Leatherwood’s highlights from his time as at Alabama:
