Bears optimistic Khalil Herbert will return from hip injury in 2022
The Chicago Bears are optimistic that Khalil Herbert will return from his hip injury at some point in the 2022 season …
The Chicago Bears placed second-year running back Khalil Herbert on injured reserve with a hip injury on Tuesday. He’ll miss at least the next four games with the injury designation, but coach Matt Eberflus said Wednesday that he’s optimistic the Bears’ top runner will return in 2022.
The Bears anticipate Khalil Herbert (hip) will return this season, Matt Eberflus said. But the team does not have a timetable to provide for his recovery. He will miss a minimum four games on injured reserve.

Eberflus noted there’s no clear timetable for Herbert’s return.
Herbert suffered the hip injury on a kickoff return late in the fourth quarter in the Chicago Bears’ Week 10 loss to the Detroit Lions.
Khalil Herbert leads the Bears with 643 rushing yards through 10 games. He’s averaged six yards per carry and has four rushing touchdowns in 2022.
Herbert’s absence likely means a bigger workload for David Montgomery. Rookie sixth-round pick Trestan Ebner will serve as the primary backup.
