Rich Eisen: Chicago Bears ‘long down the road’ of trading No. 1 overall pick
NFL Network’s Rich Eisen shared some intel he heard at the 2023 NFL Combine, including the Chicago Bears closing in on trading the No. 1 pick
It’s only a matter of time until the Chicago Bears trade the No. 1 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Speculation about what the Bears will do with the selection is turning into a waiting game until a trade is announced.
NFL Network’s Rich Eisen shared some intel he heard about a potential Bears trade during his week in Indianapolis at the 2023 NFL Combine. According to Eisen, the Chicago Bears are well on their way to getting a deal done.
“The Bears are already long down the road of trading the first overall pick,” Eisen said. “Teams have been identified. Compensation is being hammered out.”
Check out all of Eisen’s comments here:
Feels like a matter of time. Making that first moves gives the Bears a chance to make multiple moves.

The most likely trade suitors for the No. 1 overall pick remain the Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, and Carolina Panthers. The Texans hold the No. 2 pick, the Colts have the No. 4, and the Panthers pick the latest at No. 9.
General manager Ryan Poles recently told NBC Sports’ Peter King that he’s confident he can secure a 2024 and 2025 first-round pick from a team that wants to move up. He also wants to remain in striking distance for a “blue player,” the highest grade the Chicago Bears scouting department issues NFL Draft prospects.
It certainly feels like the Bears will trade the No. 1 pick before the start of free agency, which begins with the two-day negotiation period on March 13.
