Bears trade No. 1 pick to Panthers for multiple 1st-round picks, wide receiver D.J. Moore (Free Agency)

The Chicago Bears sent shockwaves through the 2023 NFL Draft Friday night after trading the No. 1 pick to the Carolina Panthers in exchange for WR D.J. Moore, the No. 9 and No. 61 picks this year, a 2024 first-round pick, and a 2025 second-round selection.

The Bears had nine picks in the 2023 draft before the trade. Now, they have 10. And there’s a good chance they’ll end draft weekend with more than that.

Here’s an updated look at where the Chicago Bears are slated to pick this year:

  • 1st Round – 9th overall
  • 2nd Round – 53rd overall (From Ravens)
  • 2nd Round – 61st overall (From Panthers)
  • 3rd Round – 65th overall
  • 4th Round – 103rd overall
  • 4th Round – 134th overall (From Eagles)
  • 5th Round – 136th overall
  • 5th Round – 151st overall
  • 7th Round – 220th overall
  • 7th Round – 258th overall

Some Bears fans were hoping Chicago would pull two future first-round picks for the No. 1, but the addition of Moore is arguably even more valuable. At 26 years old and on a cost-controlled contract for the next three seasons, he’s the equivalent of adding a first-round pick. The difference? He’s already established as a top-tier wide receiver, there’s no bust factor with Moore like that which comes along with a rookie, even first-round picks.

Stay tuned. The Chicago Bears probably aren’t finished trading.
