Why hasn't Chase Claypool been more involved in Bears offense? (2022 Season)

Anyone who thought that Chicago Bears wide receiver Chase Claypool would have a hard time handling the team’s decision to trade for WR D.J. Moore — or any of the club’s roster upgrades — will be sorely disappointed by the fourth-year wideout’s reaction on the first day of 2023 free agency.

Claypool is an obvious fan of what general manager Ryan Poles has accomplished so far.

The Bears traded their 2023 second-round pick before last season’s trade deadline to acquire Claypool in an effort to strengthen a wide receiver room that didn’t have a clear No. 1 target for Justin Fields. And while the former Pittsburgh Steeler didn’t make the kind of impact fans were hoping for last year, his outlook remains positive as the Chicago Bears retool the roster around their young franchise quarterback.

In addition to Moore, the Bears signed guard Nate Davis to level up the offensive line, and they’re expected to add more reinforcements up front and at the skill positions.

Chase Claypool is part of that overall plan, and it’s great to see he’s bought in on everything the team is doing.

Claypool ended his first season with the Bears totaling 14 catches for 140 yards. He’ll pair with D.J. Moore to form one of the NFL’s more imposing pass-catching tandems.
