Chicago Bears sign former Bills LB Tremaine Edmunds to 4-year, $72 million deal (Free Agency)

The Chicago Bears added a foundational piece on defense with the free-agent signing of linebacker Tremaine Edmunds to a four-year, $72 million deal.

The 24-year-old former Pro-Bowler will man the weakside linebacker position in coach Matt Eberflus’ defense, a role that turned Colts linebacker Shaq Leonard into a star. And while Edmunds is already a household name, he can become an NFL superstar in Chicago.

The Bears have signed three players on the first day of 2023 free agency so far: Edmunds, LB T.J. Edwards, and guard Nate Davis. More transactions are expected, especially along the defensive line and at offensive tackle.
