Bears sign former Seahawks RB Travis Homer
The Chicago Bears signed former Seahawks running back Travis Homer to serve as the top backup behind starter Khalil Herbert in 2023
So much for concerns about the Chicago Bears’ running back depth behind Khalil Herbert. Shortly after news broke that David Montgomery was signing with the Detroit Lions, the Bears agreed to terms with former Seattle Seahawks running back Travis Homer.
More running back movement: Former Seahawks’ RB Travis Homer is signing a two-year deal worth a maximum of $4.5 million with the Chicago Bears, per his agent Spencer Cannold.

Homer’s contract aligns more with what GM Ryan Poles wanted to spend on a running back this offseason. He’ll make less money over two years than Montgomery in one with the Lions.

Travis Homer, 24, has been a reliable third-down running back for Seattle over the last four years. He’s never carried the ball more than 21 times in a season, but he’s proven capable as a pass catcher and brings more chops as a pass blocker than Khalil Herbert.
Homer was a sixth-round pick of the Seahawks out of the University of Miami in the 2019 NFL draft. He should slide in as the RB2 for the Chicago Bears in 2023.
