Twitter reacts to Bears selecting Darnell Wright in 1st round of 2023 NFL Draft

The Chicago Bears addressed their biggest need in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft with the selection of Tennessee right tackle Darnell Wright.

Wright brings the kind of mauler’s attitude and above-average athletic ability to a Bears offensive line that desperately needed a bookend to protect QB Justin Fields’ frontside.

I would’ve taken Jalen Carter. Darnell Wright fills a position of need but I would’ve never been able to pass on that talent with the 9th pick. Wright helps Justin Fields so you can’t hate it but if it had to be a tackle I would’ve taken Broderick Jones. We shall see.

Some Bears fans are upset Poles didn’t take Carter. Poles met face to face with both Carter and Wright at Halas Hall. He had both available to pick. He chose the player he believes will help the team most. Darnell Wright is a Bear now welcome him, and trust Poles.
