2023 NFL Draft: 5 players the Bears should consider on Day 3

The third and final day of the 2023 NFL Draft is upon us. The Chicago Bears have added a lot of talent and depth to the trenches, with three of their four picks going to the offensive or defensive lines.

They have five more picks Saturday but expect that number to increase with some trades. GM Ryan Poles has already openly discussed trading back in the fourth round.

Who might the Bears target today? Some surprising names have fallen into Day 3, with a few who were expected to be picked in the second round.

Here are five of the best players available for the Chicago Bears to consider on Day 3 of the 2023 NFL Draft.

Adetomiwa Adebawore, DL, Northwestern

This one is the biggest shock to me. I expected Adebawore to go early in the second round. At this point, the value is undeniable for a pass rusher who set an NFL Combine record with the fastest 40-yard dash for a man his size. This would be an A+ pick for Poles.

Kelee Ringo, CB, Georgia

What a year it’s been for Ringo. He went from arguably the top cornerback prospect early in 2022 to still hanging around on Day 3 of the draft. The Bears already added a cornerback in Round 2 when they traded up for Tyrique Stevenson, but you can never have too many starting-level cornerbacks in the modern NFL.

Luke Wypler, Center, Ohio State

Regarded by many as the second-best center available in the draft, the fact he’s still on the board on Day 3 is surprising. With the Bears still needing a center for the future and Wypler being arguably the best in the Big Ten last year, he should be a priority target for Poles on Saturday..

Dawand Jones, OT, Ohio State

After Jones set a record for longest measured wingspan in the NFL Combine, many analysts thought he would sneak into the first round. Yet, here we are.

The 6-foot-8, 374-pound tackle is probably too big for Luke Getsy’s offense, and I didn’t expect Poles to draft him where I thought he’d go, but here in Round 4, there might be some real value to that selection as reliable depth on the offensive line.

Andre Carter II, EDGE, Army

Carter lacks ideal size for his position, but it’s fixable. Coming from the Army, Carter had to maintain Army fitness standards at all times, standards which are not conducive to being an NFL pass rusher. Once drafted, he can finally give his football career the same dedication that his peers from other schools have done for years.

Carter flashed a lot of talent and potential on tape and even turned in a stunning 15.5 sack season in 2021. He also possesses the kind of high character that Poles and Eberflus rave about. I thought he’d hear his name called in the third round. Carter is a value pick anywhere on Day 3.
