The 2023 season will be critical in defining the hierarchy in the NFC North. A division that’s long been dominated by Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers is in transition. Rodgers is a New York Jet, and with his departure comes an opportunity for the Bears, Detroit Lions, and Minnesota Vikings to begin their run of North supremacy.
The Lions are the early favorites to win the division because of their strong finish in 2022 and the talent GM Brad Holmes has stacked on the roster. They’ll be a tough out for the Chicago Bears.
The Packers, meanwhile, will field Jordan Love as their starting quarterback. The former first-round pick is still an unknown commodity. We’ll learn in Week 1 whether he’s a threat to the Bears and the rest of the NFC North.
Should the Chicago Bears enjoy a better-than-expected season this year, their finale against Green Bay could be a critical win-and-you’re-in affair. We’re a long way from Week 18, so it’s better not to get too far ahead of ourselves. But the Bears will have a chance to put a ribbon on a quality rebuilding season with a victory over the Packers as the regular season flips to the playoffs.
