Bears will hold joint practices with Colts before Week 2 preseason game (2023 Season)

The Chicago Bears will conduct multiple days of joint training camp practices ahead of their Week 2 preseason game on August 19.

Joint practices offer players an opportunity to compete against someone other than their teammates and usually result in quality evaluations for coaches tasked with roster cutdowns.

The opportunity to practice against the Colts will give the Bears’ defense a good look at a dual-threat quarterback. Indianapolis selected Anthony Richardson in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft. He’s bringing traits similar to Justin Fields to the NFL. Chicago will get a feel for how dangerous he can be.

The joint sessions will benefit Justin Fields, too. Having the chance to face different cornerbacks and pass rushers before the start of the regular season is a huge plus, especially for Fields, who’s still a work in progress as a passer.

The Chicago Bears will kick off training camp in late July. Their first 2023 preseason game is scheduled for August 12 at Soldier Field against the Tennessee Titans.
