2023 Season
Here’s who’s starting at each position of Bears’ OL at OTAs
Chicago Bears OTAs Report: Here’s how the Bears’ offensive line looked during the first series of OTA sessions.
The Chicago Bears are conducting their first series of voluntary OTA sessions this week. The practices provide some clues for how the team plans to line up on both sides of the ball, including the offensive line, where we’re getting our first glance at who’s likely to start at each position.
One quick aside: guard Nate Davis wasn’t present at OTAs Tuesday. He’s the starting right guard.
Here’s how the Bears’ offensive line looked:
LT: Braxton Jones
LG: Teven Jenkins
C: Cody Whitehair
RG: Ja’Tyre Carter
RT: Darnell Wright
The big takeaway here is Whitehair. The position change is now confirmed, in case anyone has lingering doubts. He’s the Chicago Bears’ starting center, and it’s unlikely that will change, barring injury.
And it’s great to see the Bears aren’t wasting any time inserting Wright into the starting lineup. Play him. He’s the best all-around offensive lineman on the roster. There’s no reason to screw around and make him “earn it.”
Once Davis returns to the practice field and takes his rightful place in the starting lineup, this Bears’ offensive line is, dare I say, excellent. It’s the best group of five Chicago has fielded in quite some time, which should pay dividends for Justin Fields and the offense in 2023.
