2023 Season
WATCH: Tremaine Edmunds shows off athleticism at OTAs
Chicago Bears free-agent prize Tremaine Edmunds was already making splash plays during the team’s first round of OTA sessions.
Tremaine Edmunds was the Chicago Bears’ biggest free-agent signing this offseason, inking a four-year, $72 million deal. He’ll be charged with middle linebacker duties, a position synonymous with Bears football.
Whether Edmunds will live up to the tradition of Dick Butkus, Mike Singletary, and Brian Urlacher remains to be seen. But he certainly has the athletic traits and football intelligence to get it done.
He put both on display at OTAs this week with this interception of backup quarterback PJ Walker.

Edmunds, 25, started all 74 games he appeared in for the Buffalo Bills after joining the NFL as a first-round pick in 2018. He totaled 565 tackles, 6.5 sacks, and five interceptions during his tenure with the Bills.
“I’m just excited about what’s to come, just by going through it every day,” Edmunds said from OTAs. “[But] Rome wasn’t built in a day. I told somebody that today. There’s going to be mistakes that have to be corrected. That’s what this time is for. It’s not about going out there and being perfect from Day 1 or Day 2.
‘Each day we have to continue to build. It’s like a journey. We have to keep taking that journey because at the end of the day, once we fulfill the dreams that we have and the goals that we set forth to ourselves, it’s going to feel a lot better just knowing where we started from.”
