2023 Season
Madden 2024 Ratings: Cole Kmet, Jaylon Johnson earn OK ratings from EA Sports
Madden 24 Ratings: EA Sports only gave one player among the Chicago Bears cornerback and tight ends a rating above 80.
EA Sports revealed the Madden 24 ratings for tight ends and cornerbacks Thursday, and in a recurring theme throughout the ratings reveal, Chicago Bears players have to prove on the field that they warrant better ratings in the classic video game franchise.
Tight end is one of the Bears’ strengths, and there is a lot of encouraging youth and talent at cornerback. Yet, only one player scored higher than 80.
Let’s check out the Madden 24 ratings for the Chicago Bears’ tight ends and cornerbacks.
Tight Ends
Cole Kmet (79), Robert Tonyan (77), Chase Allen (63), Stephen Carlson (61), and Jake Tonges (59)
Cornerbacks
Jaylon Johnson (81), Kyler Gordon (75), Tyrique Stevenson (72), Kindle Vildor (70), Michael Ojemudia (70), Jaylon Jones (68), Terrel Smith (68), Greg Stroman (67), and Josh Blackwell (65)
Jaylon Johnson is the one guy who scored an 80 or higher. His grade feels fair, given his lack of interceptions but lock-down defensive capabilities.
Cole Kmet came close, registering a 79. That’s a little lower than what I thought he deserved, but I won’t complain too much.
Cole Kmet and Jaylon Johnson are nowhere near the top of Madden 24 ratings
What was bewildering was where Kmet and Johnson fell in the overall rankings for their positions.
Kmet landed at 19th out of all tight ends, and Johnson’s rating brought him down to 35th.
After his 7-touchdown season in 2022, I’d be hard-pressed to name ten tight ends better than Kmet right now, and even if you’re concerned about Johnson’s lack of ball production, there is no way you can name 34 better cornerbacks in the NFL.

There was, however, one pleasant surprise: seeing Kyler Gordon earn a respectable 75 rating. Given how badly his season started last year, and despite his vast improvement by Week 18, I fully expected him to be rated about 10 points lower.
Rookie Tyrique Stevenson also seems to inspire belief over at EA Sports that he can make a positive impact for the Bears, despite the criticism that Chicago “reached” on him during the 2023 NFL draft.
Friday will be the final day of Madden 24 ratings reveals. We’ll finally see what EA Sports thinks of quarterback Justin Fields and linebacker Tremaine Edmunds.
Buckle up, Bears fans. It could be a bumpy ride.
