NFL Trade Deadline: Potential trade targets for the Bears (2022 Season)

So much for the panic caused by Chase Claypool being placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list (PUP) over the weekend.

The Bears activated the fourth-year receiver from the PUP list Monday, meaning he’s available to practice when Chicago kicks off training camp on July 26.

This is great news for a Chicago Bears offense that, even without Claypool, should be vastly improved in 2023.

A healthy Claypool levels up a receiver room featuring DJ Moore and a buff Darnell Mooney. The trio will give Justin Fields the most dynamic cluster of pass-catchers he’s had since entering the NFL as a first-round pick in 2021.

Claypool joined the Bears at the 2022 trade deadline when GM Ryan Poles dealt Chicago’s second-round pick to the Pittsburgh Steelers for the former Notre Dame standout. His first half-season as a Bear was forgettable, totaling just 14 catches for 140 yards.

That’s all ancient history now. Chase Claypool is healthy and ready to vindicate Poles and the Chicago Bears for targeting him as a must-have last season.
