Bears trade No. 1 pick to Panthers for multiple 1st-round picks, wide receiver D.J. Moore (Free Agency)

The Chicago Bears announced their team captains for the 2023 season, and there weren’t any surprises on the list.

Two players on offense — Justin Fields and DJ Moore — and two on defense — Tremaine Edmunds and Eddie Jackson — will wear the ‘C’ on their jersey this year.

Moore and Edmunds are new to the Bears this season, but their impact on the field and in the locker room has already been massive. Edmunds, in particular, has been a vocal and impressive leader from the day he signed a massive free-agent contract during the offseason.

Fields and Jackson are holdover captains from 2022, and rightfully so. The Bears will only go as far as Fields takes them on offense, and Jackson’s stabilizing presence in a young secondary makes him as important as any player on the team.

Unlike the Matt Nagy-led Bears, this squad won’t have a revolving door of captains. These are the four who will shoulder the load all season. And, quite frankly, this team couldn’t have picked a better group to do it.
