6 biggest questions entering Chicago Bears training camp (2022 Season)

The NFL season is less than two weeks away, but it feels like an eternity at this point in the football hot-take calendar.

And one of the hottest of all hot takes was delivered by ESPN’s Ryan Clark, who must be feeling the pressure of winning an Emmy.

Clark appeared as a guest on “Get Up!”, which is becoming a consistent feeder for bizarre takes, and said he prefers Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love over Chicago Bears starter Justin Fields.

“I’m more comfortable with the way Jordan Love has commanded his offense than Justin Fields,” former Clark said. “Now, we know that Justin Fields is ultimately talented, especially with what he can do with his legs. But Jordan Love is more composed. Jordan Love seems to have a better understanding of where his guys would be.”

Perhaps Love is more composed and looks like he better understands the offense because he’s played in the same system for several seasons. Fields, meanwhile, is entering the second season in the same offense for the first time in his pro career. Let’s give him a few games in 2023 before we suggest he isn’t as composed (or more composed) than Love.

To make matters worse, Clark wasn’t the only ESPN analyst with this take. Former NFL wide receiver Harry Douglas doubled down and said he prefers Love in 2023, too.

“If we’re just talking about this season and what they’re surrounded by, I’m gonna go with Jordan Love,” Douglas said. “I like how comfortable he’s looked at the quarterback position. I like his athleticism inside the pocket, outside the pocket. Right now, I’m going with Jordan Love.”

The Chicago Bears can prove Clark and Douglas wrong in Week 1. The Bears welcome the Packers to Soldier Field in the opener, and it can be a statement game for Fields and his standing among NFC North quarterbacks.
