Bears safety Jaquan Brisker on track to play Week 1 vs. Packers
Chicago Bears safety Jaquan Brisker is dealing with a soft-tissue injury, but he’s on track to play Week 1 against the Packers, according to Matt Eberflus.
Chicago Bears safety Jaquan Brisker has been dealing with a soft-tissue injury, putting his status for Week 1’s opener against the Green Bay Packers in doubt.
Coach Matt Eberflus met with the media Monday and offered a positive update on the second-year defender’s health.
“He is right there,” Eberflus said. “He’s progressing. Wednesday’s going to be a big day for him, but it’s on the positive side.”
Brisker started all 15 games he played as a rookie in 2022. He finished the season with 104 tackles and a team-high four sacks. It was a successful rookie campaign for the second-round pick from Penn State.
Brisker is expected to elevate into a leadership role alongside Eddie Jackson in the secondary in 2023. His hard-hitting style has endeared him to Bears fans, and his presence will be desperately needed to spoil Packers quarterback Jordan Love’s debut as Green Bay’s next-gen passer.
Jaquan Brisker says he feels great. He wouldn’t comment on what the injury is, but he told us two weeks ago it wasn’t looking promising. That has changed. Says his conditioning & physicality shouldn’t be a problem, but also states Wednesday will be big for him. pic.twitter.com/TXhprrUmvV
