WATCH: Matt Eberflus says Justin Fields could’ve played better vs. Packers
Here’s what coach Matt Eberflus had to say about the Chicago Bears’ Week 1 performance after having a chance to watch the film.
Chicago Bears coach Matt Eberflus met with the media Monday following his team’s embarrassing 38-20 loss to the Green Bay Packers in Sunday’s season-opener. He addressed the play of quarterback Justin Fields, who’s headed for a long week of criticism following a ho-hum performance.
“He knows he can play better,” Eberflus said. “He’s well aware of that. He’s going to work diligently to do that.”
Fields threw for 216 yards, ran for 59, and connected with Darnell Mooney for a touchdown. He also connected with Packers linebacker Quay Walker for a pick-6.
DJ Moore, who was only targeted twice in his much-anticipated debut, was oddly missing from the Bears’ offense. He caught both of his targets for 25 yards but was a non-factor in the game.
Eberflus noted the Bears have to do a better job getting the ball to their playmakers.
“It’s important for us to get the ball to our best skill,” he said.
