After spending most of his college career as Bijan Robinson’s backup, Johnsson’s scouting report praised his power running between the tackles and his ability as a receiver and pass protector in the passing game.
In Week 1, Johnson was the most explosive and physical runner on the Bears’ roster. He ended with five carries for 20 yards and a rushing touchdown and added a team-best six catches for 35 yards.
“He was in there at the very end, and he was catching checkdowns and had a couple nice runs, but I certainly like his style,” Matt Eberflus said Monday. “His style was really good, and that’s what he is. He’s a downhill, north(-south) guy, and he showed that yesterday. And he showed his physicality. He did that several times.”
