2023 Season
Expert Picks: No surprise here, Bears are big underdogs vs. Chiefs
NFL experts say there’s no hope for the Chicago Bears in Week 3 against the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Chicago Bears are massive underdogs against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 3, which surprises absolutely no one. They’re 12.5-point road dogs, and after the dumpster fire week at Halas Hall, that spread may be giving the Bears too much credit.
Experts certainly aren’t giving Chicago any chance, as 99% — you read that right — are picking the Chiefs to win at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday.
The Bears don’t deserve the benefit of the doubt, not after how poorly they’ve played in the first two weeks of the season, and certainly not after their defensive coordinator resigned and QB Justin Fields (sort of) blamed the coaches for his slow start. But in the words of the great Chris Berman: “That’s why they play the game.”
Our Pete Martuneac outlined four keys to a Bears victory, and among them is the play of Justin Fields. And it’s not that Fields simply has to play better, he has to go back to Fields that can break a defense at any moment.
The Chiefs haven’t been as dominant in the first two weeks of the 2023 season as they were last year, and perhaps they’re vulnerable. Perhaps that’s wishful thinking. But until the Bears are actually down by a couple of scores, we can hold onto hope for Chciago.
Even if the experts have none.
