Bears are being smart with how they're handling offensive line at minicamp (2022 Season)

Chicago Bears left guard Teven Jenkins was placed on injured reserve at the start of the 2023 season, which shelved him for a minimum of four games.

Four games have come and gone, and coach Matt Eberflus confirmed Monday that Jenkins has been designated to return, which means he can begin practicing again.

Jenkins’ injury was just one of many strokes of bad luck that has hit the Chicago Bears offensive line. Left tackle Braxton Jones was placed on injured reserve last week with a neck injury, and right guard Nate Davis has been dealing with a personal matter that’s had him in and out of the lineup since training camp.

The Bears have been forced to shuffle Cody Whitehair from center to left guard, which pushed Lucas Patrick into the starting lineup. The results haven’t been great. Larry Borom has started the last two games at left tackle for Jones.

The Chicago Bears play the Washington Commanders in Week 5’s Thursday Night Football, which makes it doubtful Jenkins will be back in the starting lineup on a short week. Instead, it’s more likely that Teven Jenkins will make his season debut in Week 6 against the Minnesota Vikings.
