Rookie Roschon Johnson suffered a concussion in Week 5, too. His status for next Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings is unclear. Veteran D’Onta Foreman could be asked to shoulder the load of Chicago’s running game until Johnson fully recovers.
Johnson is the preferred choice to step into the RB1 role. Bears fans have been calling for his touches to go up. There’s no doubt they will, even if he isn’t back in time for the Vikings game.
As for Herbert, the third-year back was enjoying a good start to the 2023 season and a productive two-game stretch between Weeks 4 and 5. He had 28 carries for 179 yards in those two contests.
Khalil Herbert has 51 carries for 272 yards (5.1 yards per carry) and 10 catches for 83 yards and a score so far this year.
