2023 Season
Bears could get Kyler Gordon back for Vikings game
Chicago Bears cornerback Kyler Gordon could make his return from injured reserve in Week 6 against the Minnesota Vikings.
Chicago Bears cornerback Kyler Gordon has been on injured reserve since breaking his hand in the season-opener against the Green Bay Packers, but the second-year cornerback could be back on the field in time for Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings.
The Bears designated Gordon for return from injured reserve on Monday, opening a 21-day window to be deemed healthy enough for the active roster.
Gordon was one of the stars of Bears training camp. The 2022 second-round pick started 14 games as a rookie. He finished his first season with three interceptions.
Chicago’s defense could certainly use Kyler Gordon right now. They rank 30th in points allowed, 31st in passing yards allowed, and 31st in passing touchdowns allowed.
“We’ve been trying to put people in there,” Chicago Bears coach Matt Eberflus said of replacing Gordon in the lineup. “We’ve had [Jack] Sanborn in there a little bit. We’ve had [Greg] Stroman in there, had different guys in there. But it’s going to be really good to get him back so we can be more consistent with our defensive alignment.”
Next up for the Bears is a banged-up Vikings team at Soldier Field in Week 6. Star wide receiver Justin Jefferson will miss the game with a hamstring injury, which, combined with a potential Gordon return, is great news for Chicago’s secondary.
