2023 Season
NFL Best Bets, Week 7: It’s all about the favorites
Week 7 of the 2023 NFL Season is a favorites-heavy best-bets. Don’t be intimidated by the spread for teams like the Chiefs, among others.
The Jacksonville Jaguars completely outclassed the Indianapolis Colts, and the Chicago Bears looked woefully unprepared to face a Minnesota Vikings team that looked poised for a defeat. Neither team came close to covering. The lone saving grace for our Week 6 best bets was the Dallas Cowboys, who covered their spread of 2.5 to help us go 1-2 last week, putting us at 9-8-1 for the season.
Here’s to a better showing in Week 7.
Reminder: Lines taken from FanDuel Sportsbook.
BUCS -2.5 vs Falcons
The Buccaneers are your typical good, bad football team. They will beat teams that they should and lose to better ones. Their three wins have come against the Vikings, Bears, and Saints while suffering losses to the Eagles and Lions.
This week, the Falcons roll into town fresh off a three-interception performance from Desmond Ridder. The Falcons are a dreadful 1-5 against the spread this year and have totaled only 13 points combined in their two away games.
I think Tampa Bay will have a bounce-back game and do what they’ve done all season: feast on mediocre teams. Tampa wins by more than a field goal.
CHIEFS -5.5 vs Chargers
The Chiefs enter this game 4-1 against the spread this year and 4-1 against the Chargers in their last five matchups. Kansas City also made a few moves this week, picking up Mecole Hardman and Frank Clark. As those two were ex-Chief players under Andy Reid previously, I don’t think they will need much time to get up to speed and have an impact on the game.
Meanwhile, the Chargers are coming off a tough loss against a team much less talented than the Chiefs in the Dallas Cowboys. I think this game comes down to a final drive where the Chiefs make a defensive stand, and the Chargers lose by a touchdown.
BILLS -8.5 @ Patriots
All favorites this week as I’m laying the points with the Bills. While they struggled against the Giants last week, I think the Patriot offense is in much worse shape. At least the Giants had Saquon Barkley and Darren Waller to create mismatches.
The Patriots don’t have anyone on offense that scares opposing defenses. They are 1-5 against the spread and seem to have no idea how to move the ball. Derrick Henry currently has more touchdown passes than Mac Jones in October. I just don’t see how they can keep up with Buffalo. This should be an easy win.
