These 3 players earned a game ball in the Bears' Week 7 win over Raiders (2023 Season)

The Chicago Bears outplayed the Las Vegas Raiders from start to finish in Week 7, earning their second win of the season, 30-12.

The Bears seemed in complete control from the jump, racing to a 7-0 lead and never looking back. Credit to offensive coordinator Luke Getsy for dialing up a winning game plan and Matt Eberflus’ defense for having their best game of the year.

The Bears hit all four of my keys to victory: they made life easy for Tyson Bagent, Maxx Crosby was held to a quiet game, the defense made Brian Hoyer look precisely like a backup quarterback, and Davante Adams was kept out of the endzone.

Once again, I had difficulty narrowing this list of game-ball recipients down to the most deserving. Several Bears stepped up when their number was called and delivered. So let’s give them their flowers.

Tyson Bagent

We must start with the rookie undrafted quarterback winning in his first NFL start. Bagent wasn’t asked to do much but executed Sunday’s game plan flawlessly. The ball was out quickly, on time, and accurately.

Bagent completed 21-of-29 passes for 163 yards, a touchdown, and no turnovers. His final stat line wasn’t spectacular, but there’s no denying he had an encouraging NFL debut.

I’ve been a big Tyson Bagent supporter since the 2023 NFL draft season, so seeing him enjoy success on an NFL felt good. It was even more enjoyable seeing him have that success, helping the Bears get their first home win in over one year.

If Justin Fields misses Week 8, which is likely according to NFL insider Ian Rappaport, Bagent will make his prime-time debut on Sunday Night Football against the Los Angeles Chargers.

D’Onta Foreman

The run game remains strong in Chicago, even with three starting running backs out with injuries. Foreman got the start on Sunday and ended the game with 120 total yards and three touchdowns. Credit the offensive line for opening holes for him, and credit Foreman for blasting through them like a cannonball.

A strong run game is a young quarterback’s best friend, and that’s what Foreman provided Bagent on Sunday.

Jaylon Johnson

Pay. The. Man.

Jaylon Johnson had his first career game with multiple interceptions, ending up with two clutch takeaways in the fourth quarter, including a pick-six, the first of his career.

While Johnson is widely respected for his lockdown coverage, the big knock on his game has always been a lack of interceptions. Before Sunday, he had just one in three years.

He now has three, which helps his case in contract negotiations with general manager Ryan Poles. The Bears must retain talented players, which Poles has already done with Cole Kmet. Johnson should be the next Chicago Bear to get his money.

Honorable Mentions: Cairo Santos for drilling a critical 54-yard field goal late in the 4th quarter, the offensive line for keeping Tyson Bagent mostly clean, Tremaine Edmunds for pulling in his second interception this season, and the coaches for putting together a winning game plan.
