2024 NFL Draft: Here's where the Bears pick after Week 7's win over Raiders (NFL Draft)

The Chicago Bears earned their second victory of the 2023 season with a convincing 30-12 win over the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 7. Rookie quarterback Tyson Bagent was the star, but it was an all-around team win that leaned heavily on the running game and a defense that forced turnovers.

The good news for the Bears is that their victory didn’t alter their standing in the 2024 NFL Draft order too much. I get it, no diehard fan is worrying about draft order after a win that may have kept the season alive, but the reality for this team is that we’re closer to being in draft season than the playoffs. So we might as well keep an eye on the first-round order.

The even better news is that Chicago still has the first-overall pick. The Carolina Panthers remain the only winless team in the league — they had a bye in Week 7. The Bears acquired their pick in last year’s blockbuster trade that sent the 2023 No. 1 overall to Carolina for wide receiver DJ Moore and a boatload of selections, including the Panthers’ first-rounder in 2024.

Thanks, Carolina.

The Bears did drop one spot in the 2024 draft order after their victory, going from No. 2 to No. 3 overall (their own pick) — the Cardinals now hold the second selection.

It feels like a best-case scenario is beginning to develop in Chicago. The Bears are playing competitive football and have won two of their last three games. Meanwhile, the Panthers stink. They could stink their way to just two or three wins in 2023, which should be bad enough to win the Caleb Williams (or Drake Maye) sweepstakes.

Whether the Chicago Bears will be in the market for Williams or Maye is unclear. It’s difficult to imagine a scenario where GM Ryan Poles will pass on a blue-chip quarterback in this year’s draft, but if Justin Fields returns from his thumb injury with a vengeance, or if Tyson Bagent is Tony Romo 2.0, the Bears will hold the NFL’s version of the golden ticket.
