Justin Fields dazzles in Bears' Week 10 loss to Lions (2022 Season)

First, the bad news. The Chicago Bears lost their Week 10 game to the Detroit Lions by one excruciating point, 31-30.

Now, the good news. Justin Fields was dynamic once again, totaling four touchdowns and looking very much like the NFL's brightest young superstar.

Fields completed 12-of-20 passes for 167 yards and two scores and added a mind-boggling 141 rushing yards and two touchdowns on the ground. He wasn't perfect, however, as his one interception was a costly pick-six that ended up being the difference in the game.

Still, Fields was electric.

The loss drops the Bears to 3-7 on the season and losers of six of their last seven games. It's a tough stretch for any team to go through, but the fact Justin Fileds continues getting better week over week is a boon for Chicago's rebuilding efforts.

Fields' 147 rushing yards comes one week after setting the regular-season record for the most rushing yards in a game. He ran for 178 yards against the Miami Dolphins in a Week 9 loss.

This stretch of Bears' losses proves they have a lot of work to do this offseason at positions beyond pass-catchers and offensive linemen. The defense has become a legitimate liability, especially in the pass rush. The Bears have scored 91 points over the last three weeks; they're 0-3 in those games.

The primary goal for the Chicago Bears this season was the development of Justin Fields. He's done more than develop over the last five games; he's now the most dangerous player in the NFL. It's OK if the defense is lagging behind a bit. At least, it's OK for now.

Losses aren't fun, especially against a division rival that was down two scores late into the second half. But Chicago's long-term outlook is as exciting as ever because of Justin Fields. Even in a loss, he makes Bears fans feel like they won.
