Fantasy Football Week 14: These 4 players should be in your starting lineup
With the 2023 fantasy football playoffs right around the corner, these four players should be in your starting lineups.
Normally, I break down the previous week of favorable Fantasy picks, but Week 13 was such a topsy-turvy NFL gauntlet that it was a total shot in the dark for many people. For my picks? Deebo crushed it. Derek Carr and Bijan Robinson did okay. Freiermuth was…nonexistent.
Let’s move on.
A lot of leagues are heading into playoffs in Week 14. And if yours isn’t, it’s got to be on deck for Week 15. On top of the chaos within league play, the injury bug struck again in Week 13, leaving a ton of question marks over whose value is worth the high price tag and who to gamble on with a high ceiling – as many key players struggled to produce in Week 13.
QB: Brock Purdy (SF) vs. SEA
But not this guy. Purdy decimated the Eagles in Philadelphia. And it was glorious.
Brock Purdy is likely going to be a quarterback name with a price tag far less than those with the names “Hurts,” “Mahomes,” and “Jackson.” And it’s a no-brainer to pick him up, regardless of price.
He’s worth every penny.
Purdy is on a hot streak heading into Week 14. In the 49ers’ rout of Philly, Purdy torched their “scary” defense for 314 yards, four touchdowns, and a QBR of 148.8. He’s also thrown for 290+ yards in three of his last four games and has two three-touchdown performances in that stretch. His weaker performance (he still got the win) did come against Seattle on the road, but look for the Niners to bounce back on home turf against their division rivals.
I’m hyped for this game and think Purdy will continue his stretch of MVP play with another statement win over the Seahawks.
RB: Zack Moss (IND) vs. CIN (“Gamble of the Week”)
Zack Moss notched 19 carries in the Colts’ overtime victory against the Titans. And with Jonathan Taylor still out, expect Moss to see a similar volume of carries on Sunday when the Colts take on the Cincinnati Bengals. This one’s a bit of a gamble. I’m not saying Moss has the most favorable Fantasy matchup of Week 14. However, he’s a strong RB2 candidate in Yahoo leagues and has high upside on a reasonable price tag in DraftKings. The Colts will look to exploit the Bengals’ red zone defense with some rushing power, and Moss could certainly find the end zone in this game.
It’s a risky take, but this selection frees up some money to allocate elsewhere.
WR: DJ Moore (CHI) vs. DET
Moore found the end zone last time the Bears faced the Lions, and I think he will do it again on Sunday. He’ll have to if the Bears want a chance at victory.
The Fields-to-Moore connection needs to be a catalyst for success in the final weeks of 2023. I think Moore finds the end zone again in a pass-heavy attack from Luke Getsy (at least in the first three quarters).
DJ Moore is arguably the brightest spot in this Bears offense. He’s having a strong year, and he’ll continue to build on it Sunday when the Bears are back at Soldier Field for a division matchup.
TE: Dalton Kincaid (BUF) vs. KC
I might as well spin a wheel to draft a tight end. But, near me out on this one.
The Bills are up against the Chiefs. Josh Allen must have a big game to keep Buffalo in the playoff conversation. So, why can’t Kincaid get in the mix of the passing game? He’s getting 5+ targets per game. Maybe one finds the end zone?
At this point, I don’t think overpaying at the tight-end position is a smart move. Kelce typically comes with an $8,000+ price tag in DraftKings, and most tight ends aren’t guaranteed to produce in league play. If you’re looking for a dark horse with a high ceiling (that also comes with a low floor and low investment), take a shot on Kincaid on the off-chance he produces when the Bills need offensive production the most.
