Chicago Bears’ presence at 2024 Senior Bowl continues to grow
The Chicago Bears will have several coaches on the American and National Team coaching staffs at the 2024 Senior Bowl.
The 2024 Senior Bowl kicks off its week of practice sessions on Tuesday, January 30, in what’s traditionally considered the official start of NFL Draft season.
The 2024 NFL Draft is a big one for the Chicago Bears for obvious reasons. They hold the No. 1 overall pick in a draft class with an elite quarterback prospect in USC’s Caleb Williams while also having a wildly enticing quarterback already on the roster in Justin Fields. All of general manager Ryan Poles’ offseason decisions will revolve around that quarterback choice, including what he does with the rest of his picks on draft weekend.
Many of those picks could be players who participate in the Senior Bowl. It’s the elite of the elite pre-draft all-star games, and any time an NFL team can gain extra intel on players during their week in Mobile, Alabama, it’s a huge advantage.
The Bears had that advantage in 2023 when former offensive coordinator Luke Getsy and three other coaches were part of the Senior Bowl coaching staffs. The end result? Chicago used the 10th overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft on right tackle Darnell Wright, who Getsy coached at the game.
Other Chicago Bears 2023 draft picks who played in last year’s Senior Bowl include Tyrique Stevenson (second round), Zacch Pickens (third round), and Roschon Johnson (fourth round).
Yeah, that extra Senior Bowl time with draft prospects matters.
And that’s why the Bears should also have an edge in the 2024 NFL Draft. Three of their coaches will be in Mobile, Alabama, getting an up-close look at players in positions of need.
The latest addition to the Senior Bowl coaching staff is Bears’ coaching assistant, Kenny Norton III. He’ll join Tennessee Titans defensive backs coach Justin Hamilton as the American Team’s DB coach.

In addition to Norton, the Chicago Bears will send tight ends coach Jim Dray (coaching the offensive line for the National Team) and assistant defensive line coach Justin Hinds (coaching the defensive line for the American Team).
