DJ Moore leaves door open to accept Caleb Williams in Chicago
Chicago Bears wide receiver DJ Moore seems more open to the idea of a rookie quarterback replacing Justin Fields in 2024.
Chicago Bears wide receiver DJ Moore has been a staunch supporter of Justin Fields since the end of the 2023 season. He advocated for Fields to remain Chicago’s QB1 during his exit interview with GM Ryan Poles and coach Matt Eberflus, and he hasn’t changed his stance.
Until now. At least, he’s changed it a little.
Moore spoke with the Chicago Sun-Times’ Jason Lieser on Thursday and confirmed he’d love Fields to return to the Bears. But if it’s not meant to be, well, Moore will be just fine.
“I advocated for [Fields], and to see it come through would be amazing,”
Did you catch that part? Moore would still be happy if the Chicago Bears go in another direction at quarterback, namely Caleb Williams, with the first pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
“Having a rookie come in would be the same as me coming in with Justin this year,” Moore said. “I would just have to hone in and be on the same page with him as fast as possible and just go from there. We’ll have to have a lot of communication.”
It’s easy to understand why Moore wants Justin Fields back under center, he had a career year catching passes from him in 2023.
Moore ended his first season with the Bears, totaling 96 catches for 1,364 yards and eight scores.
Call it a hunch, but I think most of Chicago’s veterans will soon join DJ Moore in their willingness to accept Caleb Williams as the future of the franchise.
