Justin Fields drama continues as QB unfollows Bears on Instagram
Justin Fields unfollowed the Chicago Bears on Instagram. What does it mean?
The drama surrounding quarterback Justin Fields leveled up quite a bit Monday night.
Bears fans took to Twitter (X) to express their concern (perhaps worry?) over Fields unfollowing the Chicago Bears on Instagram, which tends to be the first sign of an impending divorce between an athlete and team in today’s social media society.
It could be nothing. It could be something (major). Either way, the smart and logical thing to do is wait until the NFL Combine kicks off and trade negotiations (for Fields or the first pick in the 2024 NFL Draft) commence.
Who has time for logic, though?
If I were a betting man, I’d wager on Fields’ camp learning of the Bears’ intention to trade him. And, what’s the best way for a high-profile athlete to send a message to his fans? Yep, social media (in this case, Instagram).
It’s that time of year…. Justin Fields is no longer following the #Bears on Instagram:

We do know that Justin Fields trade inquiries have already begun. According to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, several teams asked Bears front office executives about Fields during the Senior Bowl. Trade winds are definitely blowing.
There’s no doubt Ryan Poles knows what he can get for the Bears’ former first-round quarterback. If he’s leaning toward using the first pick in the NFL Draft on USC quarterback Caleb Williams, the NFL Combine is as good of a time as any to trade Fields and move forward with the Bears’ QB plan.
For what it’s worth, Justin Fields is still following the #Bears on X.

The problem for Chicago Bears fans is the NFL Combine doesn’t begin until February 25. The Bears quarterback debate is already excruciating. A few more weeks of speculation over how Fields and Williams use their social media accounts will become intolerable.
This isn’t surprising, however. The Fields vs. Williams showdown began as soon as the Bears secured the first overall pick. The good news is we are getting closer to a resolution. But… buckle up. We’re entering the bumpiest part of the ride.
