NFL Network draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah held his annual conference call with the media this week and offered his opinion on what the Chicago Bears should do with the first overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Jeremiah is Team Caleb Williams.

“I lean heavily in favor of taking Caleb Williams,” Jeremiah said. “Unless you have got the offer of all offers, which is a combination of picks and players that it’s literally too good to turn down. It would have to blow me away to move off of that pick.

“There aren’t perfect players. Caleb is not a perfect player. Caleb is going to require some patience and assembly there, but the ability is off the charts, and what he can be is something that’s extremely exciting.”

It’s a position many (but not all) Chicago Bears fans hold.

A quick search on X or any social media platform will show how divided Bears fans are on this topic. It’s led to the worst civil war in Bears fan history (at least, it’s the worst I can remember).

But if we step outside the bubble of Bears fandom (more specifically, Justin Fields fandom), the choice at No. 1 overall becomes obvious: Ryan Poles must take Caleb Williams and not give it a second thought.

Don’t miss the chance to potentially add the next great quarterback.

“I’m, like, yeah, I know one or two Super Bowls every 10 years you’ll get a Nick Foles magic carpet ride with an unbelievable team,” Jeremiah said. ‘The rest of them seem to be won by Patrick Mahomes and Tom Bradys of the world, the elite, elite guys … If you have a chance to go out there and get one of these guys who can be elite, I think you have to take your shot if you are the Bears.”

Swing your swing, Poles. And swing for the fences.

Sticking with Fields is a single… maybe a double. Selecting Caleb Williams is the moonshot. At worst, he’ll be a double, too.
