Free Agency
WATCH: Highlights of New Bears Safety Kevin Byard
Video highlights of the Chicago Bears’ newest safety and Kevin Byard, who was signed to a two-year deal before the start of 2024 free agency.
The legal tampering period has yet to start, but the Chicago Bears already have their first big signing of 2024’s NFL free agency period.
Safety Kevin Byard inked a two-year, $15 million deal Sunday, locking down the starting safety position vacated by Eddie Jackson’s departure.
Byard, 30, is a two-time All-Pro with 28 career interceptions. He spent the first seven seasons with the Tennessee Titans before being traded mid-season in 2023 to the Philadelphia Eagles. Philadelphia let him go earlier this month, and Bears general manager Ryan Poles pounced on the opportunity to bring his experience and ball production to Chicago.
