The Chicago Bears sent a sizable contingent to the USC Trojans’ Pro Day on Wednesday, March 20. The Bears are preparing to select quarterback Caleb Williams with the No. 1 overall selection. While the majority of attention will center around Williams’ performance, Bears scouts and decision-makers will also observe other participating talents. In addition to Williams, we’ve identified four other USC prospects the Bears should keep a close eye on.

BRENDEN RICE, WR

Brenden Rice was among the standout receiving performers at the Senior Bowl. Rice enjoyed an outstanding 2023 season as Williams’ go-to target. Rice totaled 45 receptions for 791 yards and a team-leading 12 touchdowns. Rice projects as a “BIG SLOT” receiver at the next level as a mismatch advantage. Rice also enjoyed himself at the NFL Combine, running a 4.5 at a rocked-up 208 pounds.

CALEN BULLOCK, S

The Bears signed a veteran bridge-type safety in Kevin Byard, but a long-term solution is still required opposite Jaquan Brisker. Calen Bullock is a lengthy safety who excels in the deep portions. Bullock possesses excellent range and ball skills, proven by his 24 career pass breakups and nine interceptions.

TAHJ WASHINGTON, WR

The other receiver at USC, Tahj Washington actually lead the team in receptions (59) and receiving yards (1,062). Washington is a tad undersized, but he’s a highly valuable safety net that primarily operates from the slot. Washington is also capable of stressing opposing defenses through manufactured touches in the backfield.

AUSTIN JONES, RB

Austin Jones is an underrated running back who served as MarShawn Lloyd’s change-of-pace back throughout 2023. A former Stanford transfer, Jones averaged 5.6 yards per carry this season and scored seven touchdowns. The Bears are well-stocked at running back after the signing of D’Andre Swift, but Jones would be a worthwhile value target on day three.
