The Chicago Bears are expected to select QB Caleb Williams with the first overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, and this new mock draft sends him an elite pass-catcher at No. 9.

It’s finally April, which means it’s officially NFL Draft month, which also means the Chicago Bears are one step closer to adding a truly special quarterback to the roster.

Caleb Williams, in many ways, and as documented on social media for many reasons, is different than any quarterback the Bears have ever fielded. His style and fashion choices aside, Williams’s skill set is legitimately special. He’s a franchise-changer, and for the Chicago Bears, he can shatter single-season franchise passing records in his rookie year.

April is also mock draft month. Despite months and months of NFL draft predictions, the mock drafts published in April have more meat on the bones. There’s more data from the Scouting Combine and pro days, giving first-round projections more merit.

The Chicago Bears enter “mock draft month” in a rare position. It’s the first time in the modern NFL Draft era that Chicago has the first overall pick with an obvious first-overall prospect. Mock drafts really begin with the second pick, Caleb Williams to the Bears is a lock.

The latest mock draft from the 33rd Team agrees:

“What matters is Williams is incredibly smart and possesses elite physical traits that allow him to accomplish anything on the field. He’s walking into a strong situation with the Chicago Bears and can redefine how the franchise has been viewed for decades.”

That isn’t hyperbole, either. Caleb Williams will redefine the Bears. Talking heads like RGIII have been pushing this stale narrative that the Bears are where quarterbacks go to die. And while I get it (all Bears fans do), the reality is Chicago’s quarterback reputation will only be as good as the actual quarterback.

The Bears didn’t ruin Mitch Trubisky. He stinks. The jury’s still out on Justin Fields, too. Jay Cutler was the same quarterback with the Bears that he was with the Denver Broncos and Miami Dolphins: overhyped.

Williams is the Chicago Bears’ best chance at a quarterback breaking the cycle.

In the 33rd Team’s mock draft, Williams’ chances to be that guy go way up with the selection of Malike Nabers at No. 9 overall.

“Getting Malik Nabers ninth overall is a great pick,” Ian Valentino wrote. “His open-field speed and agility resemble Tyreek Hill’s, and Williams would love to have this type of playmaker.”

This is a dream scenario for the Bears, and I don’t see it happening. At all.

Nabers could be the first wide receiver drafted. He’s that good. For all the hype that Marvin Harrions Jr. has been garnering, it’s Nabers who could be viewed as the more explosive prospect. And in an NFL that values points over all else, Nabers has the best chance of all this year’s receiver prospects to put the ball in the paint on any given play.

If he somehow falls to the ninth pick, the Chicago Bears will run, jump, and cartwheel their way to the podium to announce Malik Nabers’ name.
