MJD sends Chicago Bears dream first-round haul in latest 2024 NFL Mock Draft
Chicago Bears fans are hoping for a wide receiver miracle in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, and NFL Network’s Maurice Jones-Drew gave them one in his latest mock draft.
The 2024 NFL draft is three weeks away, and while there’s little mystery around what the Chicago Bears will do with the first overall pick, intrigue remains for their second first-rounder, the ninth overall.
Former NFL running back and current NFL Network analyst Maurice Jones-Drew took his swing at what the Bears will do with that second first-round selection in his latest 2024 mock draft, and it’s a pick that will have Bears fans jumping for joy.
First things first… the first overall. It’s Caleb Williams, of course.
“This feels like a done deal after numerous meetings between Bears brass and Williams during the pre-draft process,” MJD wrote. “Chicago’s new wideout, Keenan Allen, showing up to USC’s pro day didn’t hurt the cause, either. Williams offers the playmaking ability this franchise has long searched for at the position.”

It certainly does feel like a foregone conclusion that Caleb Williams will be under center for the Chicago Bears in 2024. It’s sort of felt that way since the end of the 2023 NFL regular season, even with the presence of Justin Fields on the roster. At the start of last year, Williams was viewed as a player teams would consider tanking for. General manager Ryan Poles won the Williams sweepstakes, there’s no other choice here.
As for the ninth pick? Buckle up, Bears fans. MJD sends Caleb Williams a dynamic playmate: LSU wide receiver Malik Nabers.
“Nabers joins Keenan Allen and DJ Moore to round out an exceptional receiving corps for rookie quarterback Caleb Williams,” wrote MJD. “The LSU product exudes explosive play-making ability and will grow with Williams.”
The closer the 2024 NFL draft gets, the more likely it begins to feel that one of the top wide receivers will fall to the Chicago Bears. There’s a good chance quarterback will be the first three picks and a reality exists in which four quarterbacks can go 1-2-3-4. If Notre Dame’s Joe Alt and Alabama’s Dallas Turner crack the next four slots, either Marvin Harrison Jr., Rome Odunze, or Nabers will be on the board at No. 9.
Jones-Drew actually has Odunze sliding to the Las Vegas Raiders at No. 13, which is surprising. It’s the first mock draft I’ve seen with Odunze so low. But that’s the beauty of the NFL Draft, we have absolutely no idea how the first 10 picks will actually go.
Caleb Williams and Malik Nabers as Chicago Bears? Yeah, that’d be fun.
