Daniel Jeremiah offers interesting first-round trade proposal for Chicago Bears
The NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah proposes an intriguing first-round trade scenario for the Chicago Bears
Most trade scenarios discussed for the Chicago Bears around the 2024 NFL Draft involves Ryan Poles trading back from No. 9 overall in order to accumulate more picks. After all, the Bears are entering draft weekend with just four total selections. The NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah recently proposed a different scenario altogether.
Jeremiah posed the idea of the Bears trading up to No. 6 in order to draft Notre Dame left tackle Joe Alt. Alt would immediately become Caleb Williams’ blindside protector at left tackle.
Looking at the potential trade spots and thought this was an interesting one- Chicago trades up from 9 to 6 to take Joe Alt. I know they have a functional LT right now but Alt & Wright would be an incredible tandem to protect Caleb for a decade. Ideally for 2025 pick/pick swap

The New York Giants would be the team trading down from No. 6 overall with the Bears. If the Bears are intriguing by drafting Alt, the sixth selection would be the accurate spot to target. The Tennessee Titans are expected to possess significant interest in drafting Alt at No. 7.

It may be difficult for the Bears to execute a trade-up without a second-round selection at their disposal, and just four total 2024 selections overall. Poles would have to include significant 2025 draft capital to facilitate such an aggressive move. It’s worth noting the Bears may be willing to part with future draft capital once Williams is secured as the franchise quarterback.
It’s worth acknowledging the Bears would be passing on a premium wide receiver prospect by trading up for Alt.
There’s a lot of smoke around the #Bears targeting an offensive tackle in the first round. I wouldn’t hate it, even though I prefer a WR.

The Bears could stay put at No. 9 and target whichever receiver falls to that pick between Rome Odunze, Malik Nabers, and Marvin Harrison Jr. Trading for Alt simply represents a potential alternative scenario Poles could consider. Alt would immediately replace Braxton Jones as Chicago’s starting left tackle. Jones is a league-average starter, but Alt possesses a significantly higher ceiling than that. Alt possesses the athletic and technical abilities required to develop into a Pro Bowl tackle.
