Caleb Williams is a confident dude. Let’s face it, you have to be to do some of the things he does. He’s comfortable in his skin and doesn’t come across as a guy who cares what anyone thinks about him.

Maybe that’s why he’s had so much success on the football field. That, and his incredible natural talent, of course.

Williams is already displaying his confidence as a member of the Chicago Bears, which he became as the first overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft on April 25. During his press conference with members of the Chicago media, he smashed his answer when asked whether he expects to be great right away in the NFL.

Check it out:

First, it was kind of an odd question. Why wouldn’t a Caleb Williams’ caliber player expect to be great? He was the first overall pick in the NFL Draft because he has a rare level of confidence.

But many athletes would tapdance around a question like that, the typical answers about taking it one day at a time, working hard, all that nonsense.

Not Caleb. He answers the greatness question with a remarkable one of his own.

“Yeah, why wouldn’t I?”

Caleb Williams is a breath of fresh air for Chicago Bears fans. In fact, he’s the first real breath of air we’ve ever inhaled at quarterback.

The Bears have done their part to surround Williams with the support he’ll need to achieve that greatness. His receivers leveled up with the selection of Rome Odunze with the ninth overall pick after trading for Keenan Allen earlier in the offseason. Williams has a do-it-all stud running back to rely on in D’Andre Swift, too.

And let’s not forget about DJ Moore and Cole Kmet.

It won’t take much for Caleb Williams to become the most prolific single-season passer in Bears history. It’s a team that’s never had a 4,000-yard season from quarterback. Call it a hunch, but I think Williams will take that first step off greatness in 2024 when he shatters every single-season Bears passing record.
