Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce knows a thing or two about Patrick Mahomes. He’s been catching passes from him since (for the most part) 2018. And that’s why when he suggests Chicago Bears rookie passer Caleb Williams has similarities in his game to Mahomes, you better pay attention.

Kelce made the Williams-Mahomes comp during a recent episode of the New Heights Podcast.

Check it out:

“Caleb goes in there and makes them a better football team,” Kelce said of Williams’ impact on the Bears this season. “Watching him play college over the past few years both at Oklahoma and USC, I thought he was an absolute stud, similar to how Patty Mahomes plays the game, or at least played the game in college where it was a lot of feel and a lot of trust of throwing that thing downfield and letting his guys go make plays

“He has that game-changer mentality where at any moment he can kill you with his arm, and you can do some things with his legs and can run the ball that a lot of QBs can’t that can throw it that well.”

Williams was named the Chicago Bears” starting quarterback before rookie minicamp kicked off and is already “light years” ahead of where the traditional rookie quarterback is expected to be with the playbook. That, combined with his rare physical traits, has him positioned to break every Bears single-season passing record as a rookie while significantly impacting the NFC North and NFC playoff picture.

Will Caleb Williams become the next Patrick Mahomes? The odds of that are highly unlikely. But he can be the first Caleb Williams, which, by most accounts, will lead to plenty of success in his own right.
