Day 2 of the Chicago Bears minicamp is in the books. Here are all the updates.
The second day of the Chicago Bears’ mandatory minicamp is over, and beat reporters who were on site for the practice session provided instant updates on all of the on-field action.

Bears mandatory minicamp Day 2 observations
-Did not see Braxton Jones at practice. Cole Kmet, Tyler Scott were held out.
-Caleb Williams and the offense had a better day but still several learning moments for the QB, who threw an interception to Tremaine Edmunds in 7-on-7.…

The Bears wrapped up their second day of veteran minicamp. Cole Kmet and Braxton Jones were sidelines with undisclosed injuries, though Matt Eberflus said both were precautionary matters.

Bears QB Caleb Williams and the offense did finish the two-minute drill with a FG by Cairo Santos. Roschon Johnson, Rome Odunze and Keenan Allen all caught passes. But here’s an important note: the pass rush appeared to be purposely stopping after its first couple steps.

Two highlights from Bears’ 7-on-7s today.
LB Tremaine Edmunds made a leaping INT of Caleb Williams over the middle and raced into the end zone.
On the next play, Williams hit Velus Jones Jr. for a TD on a long bomb vs. CB Terell Smith and with most of the first D out.

Caleb Williams and the offense had another tough day against the Bears defense. Williams was picked off in 7-on-7 by Tremaine Edmunds but finished the period with a deep touchdown to Velus Jones.

It’s worth noting that beauty — and a good practice performance — is in the eye of the beholder. Some Bears reporters are infamous curmudgeons who love to live in the negative. It’s great to see some positive updates about Caleb Williams, but it’s also expected that he’ll struggle with timing and rhythm as he adjusts to the NFL.
