Rome Odunze confirms hilarious Michael Penix Jr. story
The Chicago Bears’ new rookie wide receiver retells a wild story about his former quarterback.
Before he was the No. 9 overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft by the Chicago Bears, wide receiver Rome Odunze was one of the most dominant pass-catchers in college football for the Washington Huskies.
Odunze was one of multiple benefactors of a loaded UW offense led by quarterback Michael Penix Jr., who was selected by the Atlanta Falcons one spot before Rome came off the board.
During one of the Huskies biggest wins last season, TV cameras caught Penix appearing to freestyle on the sidelines while his team was trailing against rival Oregon.
Odunze was recently asked about this moment on The Pivot podcast, and he confirmed that not only was Penix indeed freestyling, but he was doing so about the comeback the Huskies were about to put on the Ducks.
