Twitter reacts to Bears signing TE Marcedes Lewis
Here’s what Chicago Bears fans and analysts think of the team re-signing tight end Marcedes Lewis
FOX Sports NFL insider Jay Glazer broke the news over the weekend that veteran tight end Marcedes Lewis is meeting with the Chicago Bears on Monday to re-sign with the club.
A little Sunday scoopage for @ChicagoBears fans, @MarcedesLewis89 tells me he is going to Chicago to meet with team tomorrow with intention of re-signing there tomorrow. Barring something unforeseen this will be Lewis’s 19th season as he comes in to help a young QB. 19 seasons,…

Lewis had already signed a one-year deal for Chicago last August, and it appears he saw enough to want to stick around.
Social media was full of opinions on this move, with some Bears fans praising the signing and others quipping about how long Lewis has been in the league. Still, others mused about what this signing meant for other free agents the Bears could still pursue, like DE Yannick Ngakoue, and what this means for the team.

If Marcedes Lewis signs with Chicago I think my new favorite stat will be that he’s the only player to ever catch passes from both Caleb Williams and David Garrard. https://t.co/E9ga5zkMKX

Now that the #Bears are expected to bring back Marcedes Lewis, we can see they’re open to veteran FA signings.
I’d still expect them to sign an EDGE before the regular season kicks off. Really think Yannick Ngakoue is worth another look on a one-year deal.

Ahead of Week 18 — his 268th career game — last season, sat down with Lewis to reflect, and he clearly wasn’t retiring. “I’m putting teach tape out there, and I’m still doing that at the level that I want to do it at,” he said. “So I want to play.”

The #Bears are an incredibly young roster but have some high quality veteran leaders who’ve played football at a high level for a very long time.
Bringing back Marcedes Lewis is yet another way to keep the entire locker room together because it’s a very long season.
