3 Bears UDFAs with best chance to make 53-man roster (News)
Illinois Athletics

The Chicago Bears agreed to terms with nine undrafted free agents after the 2024 NFL Draft. All of their college undrafted talents participated in rookie minicamp, organized team activities (OTAs), and mandatory minicamp. They now understand what’s expected of them throughout training camp and the preseason.

Challenges will exist to make general manager Ryan Poles’ 53-man roster. Competition is present throughout the Bears’ offseason roster. We’ve identified three undrafted players in particular who possess a legitimate opportunity to contribute.

KEITH RANDOLPH JR. | DT | Illinois

Keith Randolph Jr. was Poles’ standout UDFA signing. The former Illinois defender signed a contract with the Bears that contained $220,000 in total guaranteed money, according to Spotrac. Randolph Jr. recorded 159 tackles, 23 for a loss, and 10.0 sacks across five successful college football campaigns. He has a chance to capture a rotational role behind Gervon Dexter Sr. and Zacch Pickens this season.

REDDY STEWARD | DB | Troy

Chicago’s DB room is loaded, but I wouldn’t bet against versatile chess-piece Reddy Steward from Troy. Steward entered the 2024 NFL Draft with 181 career tackles, 42 pass breakups, and nine interceptions. The former Trojans standout is a turnover magnet. The Bears met extensively with him at this year’s Hula Bowl, and kept in contact with him throughout the entire pre-draft process.

THEO BENEDET | OL | University of British Columbia

Theo Benedet was among the most unique offensive lineman prospects in the 2024 draft. At his pro day, Benedet impressed the Bears with a 34.5-inch vertical jump and a 9-foot-6 broad jump at 6 feet 7 inches and 295 pounds. The Bears swiftly scheduled a follow-up virtual meeting with the Canadian talent. In college, he thrived in a zone-based offense similar to what new Bears offensive coordinator Shane Waldron is currently installing.
